Wendy paints on a variety of archival surfaces that are of the finest quality.

Arches watercolor paper is the choice of leading watercolorists all over the world. This superior quality paper is made from %100 cotton, is acid-free, and pH-neutral. Wendy prefers the 140lb and 300lb cold press.

Museum Series Claybord is made by using 1/8 inch true artist hardboard and features a koalin clay ground formula similar in paintability to the clay gesso grounds used in the Renaissance. The finished watercolor is sealed and protected by Krylon UV archival varnish so that displaying it behind glass is not necessary to protect the painting.

Aquabord is a clay coated hardboard panel. It is an archival, acid-free textured clay surface. The finished watercolor is sealed and protected by Krylon UV archival varnish so that displaying it behind glass is not necessary to protect the painting.

Shikishi boards are made from handmade art paper laminated to a hardboard backing. They are edged with a strip of gold paper and are traditionally used for sumi painting, haiku and watercolor painting. Wendy chooses the silver shikishi board to paint on because it adds an iridescence to her work. She double mats and frames her shikishi board paintings to protect the surface.

Gallery wrapped watercolor paintings is a technique that uses Arches 140 lb cold press watercolor paper that is stretched and gallery wrapped onto stretcher boards. The finished watercolor painting is sealed and protected with Krylon UV archival varnish and several coats of Golden UVLS archival polymer varnish. The canvas is placed in a floater frame and does not require glass protection to be displayed.
